Sunterra RE, Bulgaria's leading solar energy company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Sungrow, a global leader in innovative renewable energy solutions. The agreement provides for the implementation of modern battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the company's three largest photovoltaic parks.
The new agreement represents the second phase of Sunterra RE's ambitious plan to expand its energy storage capacity. Sungrow will manufacture, test, and deliver battery systems with a total capacity of over 1 GWh, which is more than triple the existing 300 MWh capacity.
The project will use Sungrow's top-of-the-line MV-Power Titan 2.0 industrial system, which features LFP battery cell technology, string energy conversion systems, a state-of-the-art management system, and broad functionality and integration with modern power grids.
"This agreement is much more than a commercial transaction—it is a clear commitment to Bulgaria's energy future," commented Emil Shopov, CEO of Sunterra RE. "We chose Sungrow because of their proven expertise—over 28 years of experience in the industry and over 740 GW of installed capacity in more than 180 countries."
The new storage systems will optimize the production profile of photovoltaic power plants, shift energy from midday hours to periods of high consumption, reduce disturbances in the power grid, stabilize electricity prices for consumers, and increase the security of the entire energy system.
The project confirms Sunterra RE's leading position in the Bulgarian solar sector and demonstrates the company's commitment to sustainable energy transformation in the country.
